This census-designated place is bordered by the commercial hub of Dadeland to the south, the suburban CDPs of Sunset, Olympia Heights, and Coral Terrace to the west and north, and the city of South Miami to the east. Glenvar Heights is directly adjacent to the sprawling green space and attractions of Tropical Park and lots of retail and restaurants at Dadeland Mall.

Along Glenvar Heights’ northwestern boundary, sprawling Tropical Park
spans 275 acres and attracts around 1.5 million visitors every year. This park contains many amenities and sports facilities, including Tropical Park Stadium

at Tropical Park hosts more than 30 horse shows every year. Between early November and January, Santa’s Enchanted Forest
illuminates Tropical Park with more than six million lights alongside over 100 carnival rides and attractions as well as a gigantic Christmas tree. Tropical Park also has a boxing center and a tennis center with 12 lighted courts. Just north of Glenvar Heights, 65-acre A.D. Barnes Park
